Vibrant. Fast. Artistic. I have stepped into another world that is no longer Austria. Long gone are the beautiful Alps and trees that fill my vision. In its place, a vibrant and multicultural city that breaths night and day. It never seems to sleep, and I never go more than five feet without seeing a new person.
I knew Berlin would be a large city, but it did not click until it took be one tram and one U-Bahn to find myself in the city center. Berlin is very stretched out. In comparison to California, my long commute has stayed the same, except now I am able to ride efficient and fast public transportation.
In a city that never sleeps, I find myself with an unbelievable amount of different things to see and events to attend. As a music lover, I am in love with this. There are new artists everyday looking to make it big in Berlin. Or huge concert halls to go see musicians like Robin Schulz. And then there is the Berlin Philharmonic, which is world-renowned, and I will have to see if I can get a student season ticket. So, yes. Once I find my community, I think I can see myself living here. You will be taking a small town girl that enjoys quiet and solitude, then transporting her to a bustling, vibrant city. This is good. I need to live in a different environment. Maybe the reason is simply because I need to appreciate what I had.
The anticipation is there, but the dream is still far off. I might be in Berlin for the month, but I will not be making this beautiful city my home for another couple months. First, I need to venture home, see the family, attend a wedding and see how my best friend is doing in Canada. Then, I will step off the intercontinental plane again onto German soil and see if I can begin a new life. This is a life that I never would have dreamed for myself two years ago when I finished my first degree.
I am still waiting for the official acceptance letter, but I plan to attend IUBH International University of Applied Sciences School of Business and Management for my masters in Leadership and Management. It is exciting to finally have direction in my life again and to have a plan that incorporates all my loves of travel, culture, business and planning. This is just the beginning of a grand, exciting adventure.
